Violet Garlic strings (braids) are produced by hand on farms. L’Ail Violet de Cadours is braided together tightly so that the string is rigid and can be easily handled. The strings are braided using the smallest bulbs first and the largest bulbs last so they look even. For a string weighing 500 gms, the size of bulbs should be between 45mm and 60mm. For strings weighing 1 kg and over, the smallest bulbs should be 50mm.
